October 2019- Jim Murray’s Whiskey Bible gave us several wonderful reviews;

Barrel Strength Cereal Killer Rye

“The grain comes at you three dimensionally and from all directions:  as crisp and sharp as you can reasonably expect it to be, despite the oils.  OK, if I’m going to be a technical Detective Inspector, there are some incriminating traces of feints apparent.  But so gloriously sharp and entertaining is the concentrated rye, frankly, I couldn’t give a damn!  Some lovely chocolate raisin notes to accompany the granite-like and increasingly spicy grain.  Don’t know about cereal killer: more the Rye Ripper!”

Barrel Strength Cereal Killer Wheat

“Moist, freshly baked brown bread- but with a spice and molasses kick: the oak makes no effort to hold back.  A few imperfections apparent, but no doubting the depth to the grain or tannins.  Rich, toasty and bathed in molasses.  Dries as those tannins really take hold. But those spices… wow!  Sticking very much to the wheat whiskey style, this is some spicy cuss.”

Barrel Strength Cereal Killer Triticale

“Now that is one very different nose.  It is similar to the others… but not. Although the tannins are poking through enthusiastically, they are being beaten back by an exceptionally sharp grain note, that reaches towards sweetness but never quite makes it. Big spices- as is the house style- but as intriguing as it is attractive.  One of the best deliveries of the year so far.  The mouthfeel is almost perfect: rounded, weighty, slightly oily but not even remotely overpowering. The house feints style is also in operations, but it soon canishes under the onslaught of salivating grassy notes, as well as a non-specific sultana note.  Spice, tannin and a vague feinty oiliness.  In the 20,000 whiskies I have tasted for the Whisky Bible since 2003 this may be the first time I have tasted mash made from Triticale. This is one big-arsed killer and I can see this being a massive whiskey favourite among Star Trek fans… and Tribbles.”
